Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Many of the individuals we support have needs that extend beyond standard home care. This may involve coordinating multiple aspects of support, managing complex physical or cognitive challenges, or adapting care as circumstances change over time. Our role is to bring these elements together into a structured, personalised care plan that promotes both safety and independence.

Absolutely, we have extensive experience supporting people who have recently stayed in a hospital, intensive care unit, or inpatient rehabilitation centre.

Returning home can feel like a significant step, that’s why it’s so important to have the right support in place to help make the transition as smooth as possible.

We work closely with hospital teams, families and other professionals to help ensure a safe transition home and provide the ongoing support needed to rebuild confidence and establish new routines.

Every situation is different, but we understand that support is often needed during periods of significant change, particularly following hospital discharge or rehabilitation.

Once we understand your circumstances and complete an assessment, we will work with you to put the right support in place as quickly as possible. Our team can also help guide families through the process, providing reassurance during what can often feel like an overwhelming time.

Yes. Our services are regulated by the relevant care regulators, including the Care Quality Commission (CQC) in England and the Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) in Wales.

This provides reassurance that care is delivered within robust clinical, governance and safeguarding frameworks, and is regularly assessed against recognised standards for quality, safety and effectiveness.

Active Assistance is registered for both Personal Care and the Treatment of Disease, Disorder or Injury, reflecting our ability to support individuals with complex health needs as well as day-to-day care requirements.

We recognise that building trust and consistency is incredibly important. Where possible, we aim to provide continuity in the people delivering care, helping individuals build positive relationships with their support team and feel comfortable with the care they receive.

Consistency can be particularly important for people living with a neurological condition, autism, a brain injury, or a mental health condition, where familiarity and routine can have a significant impact on wellbeing.

For many people, care requirements often do change as routines, goals and circumstances evolve. We regularly review support to ensure it remains aligned with the individual's needs and aspirations. Whether support needs increase, decrease or simply change in focus, care can be adapted accordingly, helping provide continuity and reassurance for both the individual and their family.

Your first conversation doesn't need to be a commitment to care.

We will take time to understand your situation, answer any initial questions and discuss the support you may need. From there, we can arrange an assessment and recommend a care plan tailored to the individual.

For many families, that initial conversation provides valuable clarity and reassurance at a time when there can be a lot of uncertainty.

We work with a variety of funding routes and have experience supporting both privately funded and publicly funded care packages. This includes:

  • NHS Continuing Healthcare (CHC)
  • Integrated Care Boards (ICBs)
  • Local authority funding
  • Direct Payments
  • Personal Health Budgets
  • Deputyship and trust-managed funds
  • Personal injury and clinical negligence settlements
  • Privately funded care

If funding arrangements are still being established, we can work alongside the individual, family, case manager, solicitor or commissioner to help identify the most appropriate pathway and develop a package that reflects the individual's needs.
