We are delighted to announce that Katrina Salter, Active Assistance's Clinical Training and Development Lead, has been nominated for the Frank Williams Academy SCI Educator and Mentor Excellence Award at the Spinal Injuries Association Rebuilding Lives Awards 2026.

The award recognises educators, mentors and supervisors who inspire professional growth, champion excellence and create supportive learning environments across the spinal cord injury sector.
Katrina's nomination reflects her unwavering commitment to developing the skills, confidence and knowledge of colleagues across Active Assistance, helping to ensure the highest standards of care for the people we support.
Driving Excellence Through Training
A registered nurse with a passion for education and development, Katrina plays a vital role in supporting our clinical teams, care managers and support workers to deliver safe, effective and person-centred care.
One of her key achievements has been the development of a new medication training programme designed to strengthen competency around the safe administration of medication and the accurate completion of medication records. The programme has since become embedded within our organisation and forms part of ongoing annual training requirements.
Katrina's work helps ensure that both colleagues and the individuals they support can have confidence in the quality and safety of care being delivered.
Supporting Learning Across the Organisation
Katrina is known for going above and beyond to support both colleagues and clients.
Whether working with nurses, Support Workers, Care Managers or families, she is passionate about sharing her expertise and helping others develop their skills and confidence.
Her role includes supporting the delegation of complex clinical skills, ensuring nursing teams remain competent and confident while also creating opportunities for Care Managers to enhance their own knowledge and contribute to clinical training within their services.
More recently, Katrina has expanded her support to other divisions across the wider Active Care Group, providing training and guidance to additional clinical teams and helping colleagues feel confident in delivering safe, effective care.
A Well-Deserved Recognition
Those who work alongside Katrina frequently speak about her dedication, positivity and willingness to support others.
Her enthusiasm for learning is infectious, and she is widely recognised for creating an encouraging environment where colleagues feel empowered to develop professionally and build confidence in their roles.
Colleagues describe Katrina as someone who is always willing to go the extra mile, travelling wherever needed to provide support, training and reassurance to clients, carers, nurses and care managers.
Her nomination is a testament to the positive impact she has had on colleagues across our organisation and the difference her work makes to the individuals and families we support every day.
Congratulations, Katrina, on this fantastic and well-deserved recognition. We wish you the very best of luck at the Rebuilding Lives Awards on Thursday 1st October 2026.
